Good News Explored is a 6-week informal study that offers an opportunity to explore what Christianity is all about and ask questions of your own.   The environment is informal and relaxed. We begin each week with dinner for participants and their children, followed by a brief presentation and small group discussion. You don’t need to know anything about the Bible. You won't be asked to read aloud, sing or pray. And you can ask any question you want.

Frequently asked questions

What is Good News Explored?

Good News Explored is a 6-week introduction to Christianity. It explores how Christianity answers the big questions of life. Each week there will be a brief talk covering topics related to the claims of Jesus and Christianity. Following the talk is a small-group conversation where you can ask questions or simply sit back and listen. All viewpoints are welcome.

Who is Good News Explored for?

Good News Explored is for anyone who wants to investigate Christianity informally with a group of other people. Whether you have previous experience with church, Christians, and the Bible, or none at all, this course is for you. Everyone is welcome - from the most sympathetic church member to the convinced atheist. We will respect your background, culture, and beliefs. Tell us as little or as much about yourself as you feel comfortable.

Where will the course be held?

Good News Explored will be held at the Good News Church at 957 Old Lancaster Pike in Hockessin, Delaware (across from Sanford School on Rt 41). The course will be held in the Fellowship Hall.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. It's completely free. It's our gift to you.

Why is Good News Church doing this?

Christians count it a real privilege to explain the truth and relevance of the Christian message. We don't have all the answers, but believe that we have really good news to share about Jesus Christ. Good News Church desires to be a place where people in our community can come and learn about Christianity in a relaxed, non-threatening setting.

What goes on?

We start the evening with a meal, so you don't worry if you have to come straight from work. Each week there will be a short talk by a speaker and time specifically devoted to discussion in smaller discussion groups. There will also be time every week specifically set aside for taking any questions you want to ask, on any topic whatsoever related to Christianity and the Bible.

When does the course start and how long does the course last?

The course will start on September 25, 2019 and will run for 6 weeks on Wednesday evenings.

What is it isn't for me?  Can I back out if I want to?

Of course you can. There is no obligation.

Do I have to bring anything?

No. All course materials are provided to you.

What about my children?

Child care will be provided.

Is it "churchy"?

We hope not. It's not a church service. There's no praying, singing or clapping. And you won't be asked to read aloud.

Am I going to get preached at?

Each evening includes a talk designed to explain an aspect of Christian belief and to stimulate discussion. Hopefully, you'll find it challenging and helpful, but the goal is not to preach at you. It's to stimulate a greater understanding of what Christians believe. The group leaders will facilitate discussion and try to answer questions.

Will I be asked to talk, pray, sing or read aloud?

No. You are free to just sit back and listen. We've established some general ground rules to make sure this entire course is comfortable for everyone.

What curriculum is being used for this course?

The Christianity Explored course is the backdrop for our weekly topics and discussions. You can find out more at
