The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also
reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each
one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under
compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace
abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you
may abound in every good work.
(2 Corinthians 9:6-9)
The Lord gives us the opportunity to proclaim to
our neighbors and community his sufficiency and provision. Giving invigorates
our devotion to Christ, frees us from the tyranny of consumerism, and provides
an outlet for compassion. Giving provides us an opportunity to teach our
families that money is a servant rather than our master. Our prayer is that all
those who are about connecting people to the Good News about Jesus, would give
generously.
